The Beginning

I looked away from my phone smiling at a reel I came across on Instagram and I accidentally made eye contact with a light skinned guy sitting at one of the many entrances leading outside and he instantly froze. I am sure he was wondering why I smiled at him.

"The smile was not meant for you" I mouthed politely with a smile, he returned the smile and continued with his reading. I am not particularly sure he got what I said, because  the entrance he was sitting by was far away from me.

It was 9pm in a lecture theatre inside the college. I had an exam the following week and decided to come for night reading which is commonly known among students as 'night class'.

I lost focus the moment he smiled at me. He is not even that handsome, but that is a lie. He is also cute. He stayed in my mind for 5 minutes before I decided to knock him out by listening to 'white noise' through my connected earpiece. I cannot afford to be distracted.

I read for 4 hours and decided to take a stroll. I knew I could  have passed through the other entrances that lead outside, but I decided to pass by the light skinned guy.

As I moved closer I realised how his  long legs were squeezed under the table, his nose was buried in his book, so he did not notice me staring at him. He had an apple watch on his left wrist,  books were scattered on the table before him. He was reading an anatomy textbook, from that I knew he was a medical student and I was right. I approached him and started a conversation. I don't know if he appreciated it, but if he did not he definitely did a great job pretending to.

I told him I was going for a stroll and asked if he was interested and seconds later we were outside. He is a 300 level medical student, he had an exam about a month from that time and was lagging behind so badly. I pretended to not take that as a hint that he could not afford to waste time strolling and continued bombarding him with questions. He laughs in a way that makes me want to laugh also, funny. No one could have imagined we met that night with the way we kept talking and laughing as we walked around college.

After about an hour,  I was already tired, but he wasn't. I excused myself to pray in the mosque and he went back into the lecture theatre.

As I walked to the mosque, I thought about many future scenarios with him. I know I am going too far, but I was crushing so hard already. After I finished praying, I decided to pray for him and realised we did not catch each other's names, funny thing. No one would believe I did not catch my new crush's name. I went back into the lecture theatre and he was not there again and since then I have not laid my eyes on him
